Traffic Modelling

Traffic assessment may require a more detailed analysis on the impacts of a development on the road system, particularly where there is expected to be significant volumes of car and heavy vehicles accessing a site.
Traffic forecasts are prepared using typical trip generation rates for the development.
These forecasts are then assigned to the road system with the impacts of the increase in traffic quantified.
Modelling is undertaken for critical intersections to ensure that a satisfactory level of service is maintained.
Upgrades of unsignalized intersections to roundabouts or signals may be required. Upgrades such as additional lanes or alternative signal phasing may be required for existing signalised intersections.
Pedestrian movements may require additional works such as pedestrian refuges or marked crossings.
